VMware Cloud Partner Navigator is a unified partner platform for service providers to manage and deliver multi-cloud services to end customers.

Overview

As the founding designer, I designed the 0→1 features from end to end including subscription and customer management, usage tracking, new order configuration, and dashboard.

Impact

The new platform was launched in 2022, serving 4,000 partners globally. It received positive feedback and significantly reduced the need for sales reps to troubleshoot on behalf of partners.

CONFIGURATOR

Problem

VMware relies on partners, resellers and distributors, to sell SaaS offerings to end users. To kick off the process, partners need to get a pricing quote from VMware via Configurator.

Configurator is a price estimator tool for VMware partners to configure end customers' orders and view quote price to sell VMware products. However, the outdated design causes inefficiency.

~200 Products are not easy to find.

Quote price isn't prorated and it's inaccurate.

Solution

Simplified a complex configuration flow by breaking it into clear, manageable steps—Order Settings, Base Offer, and Review Order. This reduced cognitive load for users and performed well across five user research sessions I conducted.

Introduced the Lock feature, enabling partners to secure pricing by generating a time-bound quote with a 30-day expiration. This allows partners to confidently share pricing with customers before the quote expires. To support the workflow, we also added clear next steps to guide partners through the ordering process.

SUBSCRIPTION

Problem

The subscription page is outdated and overwhelming with unorganized information. The transaction history was separated from this page. So partners have to spend extra time looking for specific information.

Solution

Modularized the subscription page to simplify the UI and improve clarity. The new layout highlights the offer details prominently, while keeping key terms and customer information easily accessible in a side panel. A new Transactions tab was added to help users conveniently view and track their order history.
